This post is a promise for Anna, and that's why it is written in english.

During our recent travel to Iceland we had some good time with Anna Johannesdottir, talking about her way of life and her family.

She was our host in a place called Hjaltastadir, in the valley next to Skagafjördur, one of the most beautiful northern fiords in Iceland. The Guesthouse is comfy, enlightened, and has wonderful views over the valley.

The property is a farm that previously was driven by the family. But this beautiful woman has reinvented herself during economic crisis, and after some changes in her family. Apart from housing travelers, she has opened her own leather workshop in the guesthouse, and creates belts, wallets, clothes, cushions and many other leather stuff. This idea of Ave Fenix renaissance in an advanced moment of their lives gave to me the idea of speaking about her.

She explained us her skills with all kinds of leather from Iceland (reindeer, sheeps...), and I knew for the first time the skin of some fishes (other than sharks, whose luxury "galuchat" is well known), as salmon, cod, ocean perch or spotted wolffish are used for making leather goods!! As a whole it is called fishleather and is a craftsmanship work. Anna had to learn all about it when she reinvented herself a few years ago. She is a very active woman, and also gives courses on it at the nearby professional school.

Looking into it, I have found some information about the fishleather industries in Iceland, a very interesting and new issue for me.

These industries are located near Anna's home, in the region of Skagafjördur, which has the most beautiful beach we could see around the whole Iceland.

The valley next to it is worthy as well. It is plenty of activities for holidays, as aquatic, hicking and horses routes.

We can say: we'll come back to your lovely land, Anna!!

And, to finish, a great hit from Icelanders Of Monsters and Men, "Little Talks". Have fun with the acoustic and home made version.

Pictures taken with the camera Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF6, and the lens Lumix G Vario X 12-35 f2.8, with a polarized filter. Only a few of them were taken with an iPone 5s.
